NO FILTER: Dangerous Conversations
by Lisa KeebleLiterary FictionBook Overview
Olivia is broken. A psychologist, living on the French Riviera, she is jaded and disillusioned, weary of her clients' petty problems. The hours she spends alone, without that distraction, are haunted by the grief that consumes her. Despite her expert understanding of the human psyche, she cannot free herself from her past. The last thing she needs in her life is a misogynistic, aggressive, vulgar, foul-mouthed, self-appointed alpha male but, that's who finds her. Santu, a Corsican artist; a man with no filter.
What starts as an impromptu therapy session quickly becomes a rare and fiery war of words. Santu unleashes his contempt for hypocrisy, neo-moralism, and ideological censorship. Olivia pushes back, questions, and provokes in return. Between viscious verbal blows, shards of vulnerability appear — memories, regrets, deep wounds. With each encounter, they clash and reveal more of themselves, neither willing to yield yet each subtly transformed by the other.
Santu gradually shows her a sensitvity that is both surprising and shocking but, is Olivia being manipulated by a skilled narcissist or a man desperate for understanding? Will her fragile emotions be able to stand up to Santu's exquisite machinations or will she, finally, yield to her demons?
No Filter explores the fundamental differences between men and women, the break down of modern society and the political division that threatens civilisation. Tight dialogue, dark humour and brutal lucidity combine to create a book that unsettles as much as it captivates.
