The Light In The Meadow
by Janine PetracekChildren's Book Overview
When little Juniper dies, her brothers and sister each grieve in their own way. Archie growls at the rain. Finn digs and digs. Fern becomes very quiet.
With Mama Fox beside them, the young foxes learn that grief can look different for every child. Missing someone comes in waves, tears are made of love, and being happy again is another way of loving the person who is gone.
Inspired by author Janine Petracek’s experience with the loss of her daughter, Savannah, The Light in the Meadow is a gentle story that helps children and families talk honestly about sibling loss, grief, remembrance, and healing.
Written for children ages 3 to 10, this beautifully illustrated book includes coloring pages that give little hands a place to hold big feelings. The illustrations were inspired by the author’s own wildlife photography.
