Margareet is a charming, delightful story about recognizing and embracing the unique qualities that make up our friends, and what we hope others see in them.
BIOGRAPHY Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Patricia Jennings has been a lifelong resident of northeast Pennsylvania, currently residing in Peckville. She is a graduate of Marywood College, Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Marywood University where she earned a Master of Science degree in Reading Education.
Jennings is currently an associate professor within the School of Arts and Sciences at Keystone College, a small, private liberal arts college in La Plume, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Communications Department and teaches various writing courses, including academic writing to freshmen and research writing to juniors who are preparing for their senior Capstone projects. She also teaches various literature courses, including Children’s Literature, perhaps her favorite course. It is a course in which she and her students investigate the history and breadth of literature for children from the oral tradition to contemporary styles and genres, although her passion for traditional literature and folklore often take center stage. She is also the mother of three grown children and a busy grandmother.
Although Jennings has long had a passion for writing and has published several poems, short stories, and articles in local publications, Margareet is her first venture into the world of writing books for children. The character Margareet is very much a reflection of Jennings' own mother whose vibrant personality was the cornerstone of her life. Hoping to see Margareet come to fruition, she knew she needed to find someone with the artistic talent necessary to breathe life into her story. She was very fortunate to find such a talented and versatile an artist as Laura Fleming Summa who easily put a face and a personality to Margareet.
