BIOGRAPHY A voracious reader since childhood, J.R. Bournville long dreamed of telling her own tales. Novels held their appeal, but it was the magic of short stories which truly inspired her. Having avoided death by a hair's breadth, she had to learn how to live again. She now writes short fiction, exploring the human condition... and our mortality. She's still learning, and she's loving every minute.
J.R. Bournville lives a quiet, secluded life, surrounded by overflowing bookshelves and countless story drafts. The enchanting nature of the written word has always been a source of enjoyment for her; it was only a matter of time before the compulsion to write took hold. Since that day, she’s been unable to keep the words in. Having embraced this passion, J.R. writes across several genres, endeavouring to create a temporary escape for the mind within a new, plausible reality.
With a broad taste in books, J.R. has several authors she would consider as favourites. This list includes Roald Dahl, Christopher Brookmyre, Clive Barker, Terry Pratchett, Mo Hayder, and Matthew Reilly. J.R. also has a distinct fondness for mythology and folklore from various cultures, as well as taking photographs of both landscapes and interesting architecture.
Having achieved a major goal of moving from the city to living a more rural life, J.R. now has her sights set on achieving a balance between success and happiness through writing. Along with her fiction work, J.R. also shares the lessons life has taught her and offers advice wherever she can. One item which remains high on her bucket list is to try her hand at falconry.read more
