Lady White Eyes
by William MardenPublish: Aug 03, 2012Fantasy Horror Book Overview
"The Lady White Eyes is real, and she isn't. She's real enough to have men killed and to do a thriving business with the Korean and Laotian and Nicaraguan street gangs and be paid in cash. But she has been around longer than the pyramids and she can suck your soul out of your eyes with a glance. She calls demons and demi-gods old friends and her face is on friezes from Mayan temples just now being carved out of the jungle.
“She is ..one of the Powers of the City. Think of her as a modern day Goddess, a modern day Demonness, or maybe just a late 20th Century Dragon Lady who runs guns and drugs and women and kills with Uzis and sorcery and isn't particular as to how she does it.”
But by whatever name you call her, two men will find their individual paths crossing and leading inevitably to her.
Burnt-out homicide cop Daniel Madison will follow the trail of the Valentine Killer through the darkest sections of the city to find and kill the monster who cut the heart out of Madison’s friend and partner.
And Terry Black, a hard headed rationalist and 7th Son of a 7th Son of a 7th Son, will risk his life and sanity to find and rescue the love of his life, his new bride, who was lost in the shadows of the City on their honeymoon.
Along the way they will fight against and beside The Bug God, Aztec death gods, a defrocked Preacher who wields the Sword of Heaven, a vampire book store owner, an Asian Devil Dog demon in metal flesh, an immortal private detective/sorcerer, the Vodun and other denizens of the deepest nightmares of The City.
And in the end, they will find that the Lady White Eyes, true to her reputation, “doesn’t lose very often.”
