So many elements of suspense are weaved through Wolves Don't Knock that you feel you can't read and turn the pages fast enough. The many threads left me exhausted by the end...a very good thing. The introspections, often beautifully written, are some of the best passages. Joyce Carol Oates uses intensive character introspections in a lot of her work. She can get away with it because she has the skills to make those introspections fascinating. So does this author. *** A spell-binding novel that delves into the mysteries of a traumatized young woman’s psyche as she fights to regain a sense of worth. Thumbs up and five stars to this talented author. *** What a story! What a read! It reminded me a bit of "The Room" and a couple of other similar stories. BIOGRAPHY Cathy escapes from what she considers her mundane world by writing fiction, poetry, and essays. Although she writes all genres, she invariably (unknowingly!) veers toward the dark. Her late mother once asked "Can't you write anything happy?" (She can!)
Her writings have been published in many print and onli... ne publications. She has self-published several short story collections, books of poetry, and children’s picture books.
Her first novel, WOLVES DON’T KNOCK, was published in July 2018. MISTER WOLFE, the stand-alone/sequel, was published in 2020.
She's also written/published two books of grief poetry in memory of her son Matthew, who died unexpectedly at the age of 36 of a rare heart cancer: MY HEART IS BROKEN and BROKEN HEARTS CAN'T ALWAYS BE FIXED.
Cathy lives with her husband in West Porters Lake, Nova Scotia. They share their time between West Porters Lake and Halifax. Moses the Maltipoo recently joined their family.
