A Nest for the Savior
by Didi ZayasPublish: Oct 01, 2018Christian Fiction Children's Religion & Spirituality Book Overview
A Nest for the Savior is more than a children’s book – it’s an interactive Christmas tradition that teaches children about the best adventure of all – following Jesus.
The story follows Sadie, a sparrow who builds a nest for Jesus after finding the manger empty, while the Advent Activity Guide (on the opposite side of the book) provides instructions for kids to make their own nest for the Savior using 12 symbolic elements.
A Nest for the Savior is really two books in one – with a picture book on one side and an Advent Activity Guide on the other, which gives step-by-step instructions for children to fill the empty manger with a nest for Jesus, just like Sadie. Children can create their nests over 12 days as an Advent calendar or in one sitting. The nest is built of 12 symbolic elements readily available at home, the nearest craft store or by purchasing a Nest Activity Kit (sold separately). Each item used in the nest can be substituted easily.
By placing these elements – such as wool and bread – into the manger, children learn about Jesus, the Lamb of God, the Good Shepherd and the Bread of Life. They also learn about the real reason for the season: the Cross.
