Oct 1983: A US destroyer discovers a man marooned for the past year on a deserted islet. When the ship reaches Grenada the former castaway disembarks to the strife-torn island to pursue his own personal agenda; to find his boat and the men who shot his girlfriend. Action-packed sequel to ‘Return to Africa’, a fast-moving thriller set against a background of political unrest, revolution and war.
Following the shooting of his girlfriend, Patrick Redman is forced at gunpoint to transport a shipment of cocaine in his yacht. Knowing his probable fate on reaching their destination, Patrick plots a course to take them close to a small island during the night when he can make his escape. But the plan goes awry when his portable radio is damaged and he finds himself marooned with no means of calling for help. The British ex-serviceman survives, and after a year, is finally rescued when US naval forces use his island for bombardment practice prior to offensive operations in Grenada. Regaining his health and strength aboard a US warship, and with hostilities ashore reaching a conclusion, Patrick is determined to exact retribution on his partner’s murderers. By a stroke of good fortune, a marine unit on coastal patrol discover his boat abandoned in a mangrove lagoon, leading Patrick to conclude that the killers have dumped it here and fled the island. In this, and many other assumptions, Patrick is horribly mistaken.
