The absolute truth is it was hard to write my debut novel The Paradise Induction, which follows a fictionalised version of the fulfilment of this vow.

As you might have gathered by the time you've read TPI, the true story behind this novel is my own; all the feelings and thoughts were very real at the time.

I didn't enjoy my five years living in the Caribbean...at all.

When I returned to London on Dec 22, 2014, a lot of wisdom got dropped upon me in the subsequent years.

I wanted to forget the five years I'd spent in the Caribbean and walk away like it never happened.

But the 'Man Upstairs' told me I not only had a duty of care to share this experience. It was an obligation.

Living in the Caribbean was part of what made me who I am today and the trials and temptations couldn't be relegated to the void.

So, I hope you somehow enjoy The Paradise Induction, although 'enjoy' just doesn't seem like the fitting word.
