BIOGRAPHY
After years of battling addiction and coping with depressionand the tragic loss of her father at an early age, her worst fear came true. Tyra's husband was killed in the Vietnam War. In her memoir, Where the Water Meets the Sand, she explores themes of loss, depression, addiction, courage and love and offers hope to individuals and families who have dealt with the loss of someone close to them. The IBPA awarded her memoir, Where the Water Meets the Sand, the Benjamin Franklin Award for fist place in the memoir category.
Her second book, Your Turn, Ways to Celebrate Life Through Storytelling will be published fall, 2019.
Dr. Manning earned a doctrate in education from the University of Kansas and became one of the nation's top school superintendents. Since retiring in 2004, Dr. Manning's mission is to share her personal journey of hope with individuals experiencing depression. addiction, and loss and the people who love them. A born and bred Texas, Dr. Manning lives in the Texas Hill Country.
