She has won a Jazz Times Distaff Award, made their Gearhead list, been on Jazzwise reader's list of favourites, won Phace Magazine Music Book of The Year award in 2020 plus a nomination for Jazz Journalists Association book of the year. Sammy has had the honour of being commissioned twice by the Library of Congress- a high honour for a non US writer. Sammy has written for Readers Digest and WeJazz Magazine.
