Back cover description
Today might possibly be one of the best days of my life. I am now in Melbourne, watching West Indies play Pakistan in the opening stages of the Cricket World Cup. Out of the blue, Suzi has just appeared, and we have just shared the most electrifying of kisses. I haven’t seen Suzi since her bus departed for Cairns a few weeks ago. She was travelling with Megan, her best friend, and, oh yeah … a month ago, Megan and I got a bit close and personal too. Until a few moments ago, I had lost hope of seeing either of them again, aside from in my naughty dreams.
After graduation, I was without romance, without a social life and without a career; I was drifting with neither prospects nor purpose. Having secured a job that I didn’t really want, I decided to go walkabout. Australia has been a great adventure, and I am soon flying off to New Zealand. Perhaps England have a real chance in this World Cup, and perhaps my own prospects have just taken a turn for the better.
Eye on the Prize is the second in the Shy Backpacker series. It is a fictional travelogue, but anchored loosely around the author’s own real-life adventures … allowing for fading memory and a vivid imagination.
