It’s March, 2020 in the small town of Cobble Cove, New York, and the Cobble Cove library has closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On the day of the closing, Alicia brings Sneaky, the library cat, home with her. He joins Fido, the dog, who has been staying at the McKinney’s while Mac and Betty are on vacation. Sneaky informs Fido that he thinks someone may have been locked in the library when it closed and that Fido should find a way to get Alicia to reopen the library to check.
Alicia learns that one of her childrens’ kindergarten friends, Daryl Dixon, is missing. When Fido insists on a walk and leads Alicia toward the library, they discover the body of Daryl’s teacher in a shallow grave. They also find Daryl who had hidden in the library after witnessing the “Big” man who hurt Mrs. Phillips. Although Daryl can’t identify the man, Sheriff Ramsay has him meet Mr. Phillips.
Fido helps Alicia search out the killer as Mr. Phillips accuses his wife of having affairs with several of her students’ fathers. Did one of the accused men kill the young teacher, or was Mr. Phillips using them as scapegoats for his crime? Fido and Sneaky, along with Ruby and KittyKai once again save the day when Alicia and Gilly learn the truth and come close to death.
