It’s not what we forget that matters, it’s what we remember.So today is my tenth birthday… No, wait, that isn’t right? I’m not ten I’m… Twelve…? Six…? Nine…? Twenty…? Wait, what? Why… why can’t I figure out how old I’m supposed to be?
Oh… wait… I know why. It’s because of the stupid thing in my head messing up my whole life, making me forget important things, and causing confusion. My confusion mostly. And its not fair. It’s not. It didn’t used to be like this. My brain was normal once. Or more normal I guess. And, even with everything they’re doing to fight the stupid, there’s still no guarantee I will get better. Which I hate knowing, because the thought is kind of terrifying.
And I know that’s how my brothers must be feeling too, now that they’re the ones looking after me, because… because of what happened… because… And I know my brothers are trying… I know they love me, but I still… I still… I just…
Still I have some great friends, who somehow always manage to make me feel like me, no matter what. And, with the way things are now, I honestly don’t know how I would survive if anything were to happen to them. Same goes for my girlfriend too. Roxy. She’s amazing, and I seriously can’t imagine what she sees in a skinny giant like me…
I just hope I live long enough to have a real future with her. Because, if there’s one thing I’m certain of in this mess I call a memory, it’s that I want to live.
