A rouge large dense rock struck the moon which tore the moon apart. Hundreds of rocks struck the Earth destroying thousands of years of civilization and infrastructure on the Earth. Entire countries disappeared under miles high tidal waves or were destroyed by the hundreds of earth quakes caused by the rocks striking the planet.
A group in the Mid Atlantic area of America formed a new Nation they called New Sparta. A country based on strength of body and character. They used the titles of the old Roman Empire, their leader is called the Dux.
The Dux has plans to build New Sparta into a superpower, that in a generation or two will fight for the right to rule what's left of the world.
All of the countries in the Northern Hemisphere are facing a new Ice Age caused by the debris throw up into the atmosphere, blocking sunlight from reaching the ground. Those who survived the rocks, various diseases, and roaming gangs are fighting over the few remaining resources.
Book 2 explains the decision of the major powers to relocate their populations to warmer locations. Meet the people fighting to stay alive in a make shift fort in rural Virginia, the people of New Sparta and the Russian leaders who are fighting each other for limited resources.
