BIOGRAPHY
There are many ways to describe Nubian Star, but none more poignant than the word Driven! Nubian Star was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. Early in her life, she had an affinity for the arts and words. Reading was a way to escape the hardships of growing up in Milwaukee’s inner city. Throughout school, she utilized writing as a way to express herself. She was a four-time state medal-winning member of her high school forensics team. Once graduating high school, she entered the corporate workforce, but her passion for writing continued. She began performing spoken word poetry, where she competed in slams and toured the Midwest with the Rustbelt Team. During her time as a spoken word artist, she wrote two chapbooks and co-facilitated a poetry workshop for youth at a local Boys and Girls Club.

A lover of all things art, Nubian Star began painting in 2006 and through this medium, she has used her art to influence her community. She received recognition from the Mayor of Milwaukee for her work in her neighborhood.

Writing has been a major passion for Nubian Star and she thoroughly enjoys using her imagination to create intricately woven stories. A lover of writers such as Stephen King and Shel Silverstein, she uses her wide range of interests and knowledge to create mind-binding works of fiction. A homebody, crafter, and domestic goddess extraordinaire, she spends her free time enjoying the craziness that is her family as she waits for the next strike of inspiration.
