BIOGRAPHY Luke Francis Beirne was born in Ireland and lives in Saint John, New Brunswick, on Wolastoqey land.
His first novel, Foxhunt, was published by Baraka Books in 2022. His second novel, Blacklion, will be published in September 2023. His stories, essays, and reviews have appeared in outlets such as Counterpunch, NB Media Co-op, ZNet, The Commoner, Hamilton Arts & Letters, Honest Ulsterman, and CrimeReads.
In 2017, he was awarded the David Adams Richards Prize for Prose at St. Thomas University. Foxhunt was a finalist for the 2022 Foreword INDIES award in General Fiction and was selected as one of The Miramichi Reader’s best novels of 2022. His novels have been stylistically compared to Hemingway and early le Carre.
Beirne has a BA in English Language & Literature from St. Thomas University and an MA in Cultural Studies & Critical Theory from McMaster University.
