6 Days In Oklahoma

A southern noir.
The only problem with doing nothing is knowing when you're finished
In SE Oklahoma, bored Sheriff Roy Bean meets with retired detective William Bailey. William has compiled a dossier on historical disappearances within a locale known as Hunter Ridge. He believes they are the work of a predator. William's theory is unignorable and Roy is obliged to prove or disprove it. As he begins to dig, the nebulous trail he follows leads him into the detached ‘Hill Folk’ community of Hunter Ridge. The balance of Roy’s laissez-faire approach to policing the criminality in the hills is tested, pasts are disturbed and historical guilts faced, but William’s predator remains elusive.
6 Days in Oklahoma is a neo-western set in the immediate past against an isolated tableau of untethered, backwater America and its de facto autonomy. It is inspired by guilt, consequence, and the dilution of right and wrong. It is also influenced by a line from Katherine Anne Porter – ‘The past is never where you think you left it’.
