That people enjoy your work is something all authors aspire to. But also, like most authors, it would be great if our writing could pay the bills. I'm not asking for megabucks but if my writing can keep a roof over my head and food in my belly then I would count myself as being a success. I'm not there yet...but I can hope.
Don't wait for inspiration. Write! Getting it down is all that matters. Even when the words refuse to flow the way you want, write anyway. I'm always amazed by how easy it is to sort it out afterwards. Even the most dire of passages can be turned into something useable. Even when it can't, you can move past it but a blank page is useless.
