E-books and Kindles have made stories much more likely to be published. Stories that never would have made it past the slush pile are now available. It's a dual edged sword, though. Some of the stories were rejected for legitimate reasons, such as bad writing, but many were unseen because of short-sightedness of the part of publishers. Those stories will now teach us ideas we might never have entertained, and hopefully enrich and delight us, whereas before they couldn't.
