I still feel very shy but also very grateful. I find it hard to take compliments so I often blush when people praise my work. It is a wonderful feeling though.
Yes, I do. Being a book publicist as a FT job, and also my previous experience as a probation officer has given me a tough skin! People are entitled to their opinions, whether I agree with them or not. I often purchase books based on bad reviews, so it is not always a negative thing!
I think a good title and cover is what draws a reader in and therefore very important. If the reader doesn’t like the look of a cover, they probably won’t read the blurb or buy the book. But I’ve also read some incredible books where I didn’t find the covers that appealing. All very subjective.
Yes. Dead Inside was very personal as I was also a Probation Officer, working with domestic abusers and then living with one for thirteen years. A lot of emotion and experiences inspired the storyline.
