People say, 'Don't judge a book by its cover,' but I'm not sure I've met anyone who doesn't, whether they're willing to admit that or not. The first Children of the Program book cover featured my daughter. As time went by, it seemed too literal and almost nonfictional, so it was redesigned as an animation. I absolutely love the redesign and feel it makes the world of Children of the Program all the more curious.
Literary success is taking the impetus for a vision and turning it into a journey for another reader's imagination. For me, it wasn't really about 'making it' as an author, but more about proving to myself that I could actually do it and my ability to give people an alternative experience to the whole notion of 'What is real?'
