        After visiting the caves underneath Nottingham Castle, and seeing where the prisoners were chained to the wall underneath the bakery so they could smell the fresh bread, I immediately rewrote the scene in The Scarlet Forest: A Tale of Robin Hood where Will Stutely is held prisoner by the sheriff to incorporate that.

        That wasn't the medieval prison where I ended up getting locked in, though. There have been a lot of medieval prisons.

      • BIC pens pretty much say it all: Butt In Chair. Write constantly, and read books that you think will make you a better writer (this doesn’t refer to self-help books). If you’re cut out to write, you’ll learn and improve.
