Absolutely! The way I handle writer's block is by shutting everything down for a bit. This is usually when my phone is ringing and my emails have subsided. I need a comfy hoodie, fuzzy socks, a clean space, a glass of wine, and a great playlist. Then I turn on the voice recorder or transcription tool and I speak my book instead of writing my book. When I'm done, I clean it up. It's during the cleanup process that I can organize and build the story.
The most difficult thing is making sure you are writing authentically male dialogue and thoughts. I usually have to act a scene out to be sure that what I wrote is something that is realistic to not only the character but to who I have led the reader to believe the character is.
My inspiration to write came from having a mother who introduced me to the magic of books and reading at a very early age. Once I discovered the many worlds that existed between the pages, I knew I wanted to create the same experiences for others.
Keep writing. Keep making mistakes and changing things around until you love what you've done. Step away from the project for a day and when you come back to it come back as a consumer to read your book from an objective point of view. If you like it, then someone else will also like it. If you love it, then someone else will also love it.
