      • When people appreciate what I have written, and are able to pickup on the subtleties in the writing. When they "get it" so to speak. A recent reviewer pointed out some specific themes that I had worked hard to make sure were in my book. It was so satisfying to see it noticed and appreciated.

      • The fact that they want to know more about the author than the book. Books have such an opportunity to be judged solely on what is written, and not discriminate based on any other prejudices. Historically the industry has been prejudiced against women and minorities. Increasingly the industry is seeking to balance by featuring more minorities. But as long as it is still the norm to decide on whether the publisher likes the author rather than the merits of the book that has been written there will be abuses.

      • It makes my day every single time I get a good review. When someone tags me on instagram or puts up a review on a website, that they appreciate the love and effort that went into a book just makes me so elated.
