I do judge a book by its cover. Always have done. A colourful picture, an interesting font will always catch my eye. Together with a good blurb and a quick peek at the writing style on a page or two - I can be hooked!
Reading Hans Christian Andersen inspired me as a child, most definitely. His tales were dark and twisted and full of tragedy and drama. With every reread I always hoped for a better outcome! That is the eternal optimist in me.
I have been writing essays and telling stories to my children for many years. I started a blog some years back. During the lockdown, I suddenly wanted to formally put my children's fiction stories in writing. It felt like a time of turning inwards, being with family and reconnecting with oneself and those closest. It also felt like a time of growth, change and reinvention. The birth of possibilities.
