      • The cover can mean the difference between a reader picking up your book, or leaving it on the shelf. A good cover is just as vital, if not more important, than the contents of the book, and I say this only because the cover is what first draws the reader in. The title has to also grab the reader, make them feel as though they are challenged and desperate to find out just what is this book about.

      • Writer's Block is real, and can be devastating. When it happens, the best thing that works for me personally is not to panic or be angry with myself. Instead I focus on my other hobbies, no matter how long the hiatus from writing may last. Just relax and breathe and know that inspiration will again return.

      • I read all reviews, good and bad. 7 years ago, I received the only one star review that I have ever received to date. It was on my first book. I was so tragically hurt by that review. I took it so personally and it absolutely crushed me. Who was this person and who were they to admonish my work in this way for the whole world to see, I wondered. Now I see it as an opportunity for growth. Perhaps the reader was right, and some of the things that she said left me room for change. I now realize that not every book is for every reader. I know that every review is not going to be a glowing 5 star review, and if they were, they wouldn't be honest anyway. I want honest, heart felt reactions to my work now, not fabrications. If people don't like my work, they should say so. For how else are we as writers to learn and grow?

      • I truly wish that I had more time to devote to just sitting down and just writing. Not promoting, not retweeting or blogging or uploading reviews or anything. Just writing. That is what we are supposed to be doing in the first place.

      • Be wary of fly by night publishing companies who say they will publish your book, but it going to cost you thousands of dollars. Self publishing is the route to go. These publishing companies do not help with marketing and in the end you will save your money by self publishing. It is a trying process either way. You truly have to want to write and publish. It is not easy. Nothing about it is easy.
