I would say less than more. I came of age in the pre-social media era, where a premium was placed on verbal and written communication. People today are hostage to their lap tops, iPhones, and iPods, which tend to minimize personal contact and use of the written word.
You deal with bad reviews the same way you deal with complimentary reviews. You always thank the reviewer for taking the time to get into evaluating and critiquing your work. You learn from poor reviews. Our writing skills evolve over time, as there is no such thing as creating a perfect piece of work.
