Hello Volker, I've been writing ever since I was a little girl. I'm an avid reader, and when stories became too predictable, and I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again, I decided to pick up my pen and craft my own stories. Stories I craved to read that I just wasn't finding.
Hallo, thank you for sharing something so personal and meaningful. That moment you describe, when the stories you were reading no longer satisfied your curiosity or imagination, that’s a powerful turning point. I think many writers begin just there: when the hunger for something more personal, more honest, or more surprising pushes us from reading into writing.
You say you picked up the pen to write the kind of stories you were missing, that’s exactly the right impulse. It reminds me of how Gereon Rath came into being. I didn’t set out to write crime novels because I loved the genre, in fact, I found most of them too clean, too formulaic. But I was drawn to the Weimar era, to its complexity and contradictions, and I wanted to tell stories that embraced moral ambiguity, where the good guys don’t always win, or even stay good.
Keep following your instincts. If you're writing the stories you crave, chances are others are craving them too, even if they don't know it yet.
I’m curious, when you sit down to write, what kind of stories do you find yourself drawn to most? Are there particular themes or settings that keep pulling you back, the ones you feel the world truly needs more of?
Hello,
I’m Raven Kennedy, a fellow author. I admire your work and wanted to connect. What’s been the most rewarding part of your writing journey so far?
Absolutely! It usually comes when I finally have time, for myself, to sit down and stare at that blank white page on the screen. The biggest tip I can give is, don't wait for when you have time carved out to write. Inspiration comes at random times and if one holds it off and waits, it will be gone. Also, don't be afraid to continue to write something you feel is horrible as the end result might just surprise you. Keep on writing, always.
The sky is the limit as an indie author, which gives me the freedom to write in whatever genre I desire. Although my debut, The Darkest Side of the Moon- first in The Dark series- is aimed for young adult, it's not one size fits all and neither is the series. Also, I have a self-help inspirational book in the works that will be available soon everyone can benefit from reading.
There was no doubt in my mind that one day I would become a published author. I was waiting for the stars to align when the right time presented itself, which it did. Now the real hard work begins, motivating readers to invest in my craft.
