Writing a draft is one thing. That's where the creativity comes from. However, after that you have the refinement and that takes time. There's a not a whole lot of fun in it, though when you finally get something right, it feels pretty good.
Persistence is the trait most needed. Writing in the long form is a lot of work. The edits and re-writes seem to go on forever. You need a lot of perseverance to continue on even on the days when you are not 100% inspired.
I had wanted to write a book for many years but never quite got around to it. Then in 2017 started on Hy Brasil: Island of Eternity and haven't looked back.
Hy Brasil came out in 2019 and I'm now working on a second novel
