I am. I have a W-I-P tentatively called "It Started at Christmas" and a mystery coming out in the spring of 2026, DEATH IN THE END ZONE. How about you?
As for me, I’m currently revising a new project while balancing a couple of ongoing series. It’s been a busy but exciting season of writing. Would you be open to connecting via email? I’d really enjoy hearing more about your writing process and how you’re approaching your upcoming releases.
Regarding my writing process, I generally start with a wisp of an idea for a premise, then spend lots of time on character development which for me comes before plotting. Thanks for asking!
Starting with character really does ground the entire story. For me, my process is a little more layered. I usually begin with a big-picture concept or question that intrigues me, then I’ll build out the world and its rules. Once I know the setting, I start weaving characters into it and let them shape the plot as it unfolds.
I’ve found that balance between structure and spontaneity keeps the story fresh. How do you know when you’ve developed your characters enough to start plotting?
That makes sense. Once I know my characters well, I usually move straight into plotting out the major beats of the story before drafting. How do you approach the plotting stage?
By the way, I sent you my email through the contact form, I’d love for us to talk more about this.
Your work really caught my attention there’s such a powerful energy in the way you tell your stories. It’s clear you write with purpose and heart. I’d be genuinely interested to hear more about what fuels your creativity!
I write both coming-of-age young adult romantic mysteries and adult romantic mysteries. In addition to the mystery element, I'm especially interested in how characters (including the adult ones!) grow and change.
So many things, but I'm especially interested in character development. If we can create characters readers care about and identify with, we've done the most important thing in my opinion!
