Every writer, whether they admit it or not, incorporates their "real life" experiences into their novels. Mine might be more "autobiographical" than average, even the satirical science fiction.
Set a schedule, as if you were training for a marathon. When I was working full time, I would come in early around 5 AM and write until about 7 AM. Some people prefer the evening. Set aside a specific place where you do all of your writing. So, basically, space and time. Never stare at a blank page. Just start writing whatever nonsense comes to mind and keep it going for as long as you can stand it. Have more fun than you can stand and pretty soon you have the basic blob of a story.
