I tend to write in sprints. When an idea hits that excites me, it's easy to find my flow. If I try to force a schedule, it usually makes me resent the process.
There is an endless supply of writing tips out there to ensure you have a compelling plot, complex characters, emotional arc, voice, grammar, and more. All those things are critical to good writing, but if you're not having fun writing your story, your readers probably aren't having any fun, either. This is the one thing I remind myself before I sit down to write anything. When I feel stuck, it's usually because I forgot to enjoy the story as I write it.
