Thanks, Tracy for asking. Since I was a teen I've been writing. I have always created stories since I was a kid it was an escape. As I got older I loved creating characters and giving them adventures I would never have.
More life experiences change who we are. As we age, our thought process changes, and we grow. So it is only natural that we would grow as a writer to as it is a craft. The more you do it, the better you become at it.
All the time. Write what you know is the motto. It is not only something powerful in the writing of it you can reframe and, if need be, deal with the event's emotional impact.
There are many ways I deal with it. I reread. I try and work on another project, and if none of that works, I walk away and do something completely different.
Get out of the thought of perfection. PErfection can paralyze you with fear. Fear leads to shutting you down. So I would say get out of your head and your own way.
