Publishing my first book was a great learning process. Now, I feel like I have a great system in place as well as a freedom to write what I want, what I feel my readers really need, and not what I should.
1.Press on.
2.Readers need what you have to say, not perfection.
3.Find an accountability partner, coach, tribe.
4.Write down every nugget that crosses your mind. You'll use it later.
My depression inspired me to start writing at the age of twelve as a way of coping. Then, I rediscovered my love of writing after running into a friend that was publishing her first book. I began the process of learning what it took to write and publish but stalled after a publisher told me I was a "nobody." My grandma brought my dream back to life when she asked me to write about all the good in her life. It was a 15 year span from planning that first book to publishing a solo project. Now, I'm not sure I'll ever stop!
