I’ve had the chance to explore your work, and it really caught my interest. I’d be curious to hear what you’re working on now or what sparked the idea behind your latest book. Always enjoy connecting with fellow authors in the same space.
What’s been the most rewarding part of your writing journey so far?
Hi, Karl--I hope you'll buy my book(s) and post review(s) on Amazon. That's my bread-and-butter. My current WIP is a prequel to Rainbow of Promise which is the WWII romance about my parents' romance. The prequel is the story of my Volga German grandparents emigrating from Russia to the US in 1913. A lot of WWI and WWII history is wound throughout the book. I spent last year researching Russian/Volga German history. The process now is overwhelming, but I'll get there.
My journey? Everything I write is for a purpose. I love writing; marketing takes up too much time. I'm not out to get rich or famous. I'm a retired teacher with a passion for education; that's why I wrote my teacher-mentor book. I market on social media and sell my books at events. I have a busy life doing that, gardening, and traveling. Best wishes!
Today's generation seems to be busy on their cell phones or tablets. What do you mean by literary art? That's too general of a definition to answer the question. Are we talking about appreciation for literature? I'm a bit old-fashioned when it comes to what are called classics...back then and what is being published now by excellent writers and excellent readers.
I read them all, print them out, and keep them in a 3-ring notebook. I've only had a couple that bothered me--especially since one was against the Amazon rules, and Amazon never did remove it. Very irritating and worthy of litigation but reviewer didn't reveal their real name.
Supposed best sellers who are found out about having a ghost writer! Manuscripts stolen, then changing the cover and title and selling the book. Sometimes I wonder about Amazon cheating authors via not-so-nice regulations.
I've written since I was a teenager--7th grade reporter for school newspaper. My first poem was published in our school newspaper. I've been writing ever since--poetry, short stories, novels, journaling... .
Writing is only draining if it's an emotional experience you're writing about. Sometimes, you have to spend more time researching and organizing it than actually writing. Otherwise, I find JOY in writing.
