      • Karl, Hi...Funny thing is that I only wanted to write a book on Indy filmmaking. It went really well, so I tried one on working out. The two things I know the best. Those sold well too! During Covid there was no money to make movies, so I decided to write. I've since retired and now just write. I knew the film biz and how political that was. I NEVER knew the publishing biz was far worse!...lol I used my connections in film to get my first deal. Bam, I'm still writing! How about you?

        • Hey, that’s an awesome journey, thanks for sharing it! Sounds like your books have done really well, especially starting out with what you know best. That’s always a smart move. And wow, it’s wild to hear that publishing is even more political than film haha, I believe it!

Your book performance really looks great and that’s inspiring. I’ve been selling my book more lately too. It’s been really awesome seeing it gain traction. I’ve also been working with a professional to help get it in front of a wider audience and it’s made a big difference.

How many books have you written so far?

      • It's a JOB. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I go 110% 18 hours a day. That's the only way to reach your goals. That and a little luck...lol. Thanks for the question. If I can ever help reach out!.

        • Hi Kev,

Wow, 18 hours a day, that’s some serious dedication. I really respect how committed you are to your craft. It’s clear you’re not just passionate, but also fully invested in the long game, which is rare.

I’ve been diving into your work and the way you connect with readers is impressive. It’s inspiring to see someone combine authenticity with hard work, that combination definitely stands out.

I'd love to stay in touch and continue learning from your journey. If there's ever a way I can support what you're doing, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Wishing you continued momentum and success!

By the way, with everything you’ve got going on, how do you prioritize what gets your energy, writing, marketing, connecting with readers, etc.? I imagine finding that balance isn’t easy with an 18-hour grind!

            • Hi Kev,

Thanks, I appreciate that! The same goes for you; I’m always around if you ever want to bounce ideas off me or talk shop.

Quick question: What’s been the most effective way you’ve found to connect with new readers lately? With how fast things change in publishing and marketing, I always find it helpful to hear what’s working for authors on the ground.

              • Eleanor, You know thats a GREAT question. I use FB and X and LinkedIn. There are a couple of companies like shoutmybook that I use. Even with publishers, the author is responsible for marketing. I use these inexpensive companies to post ads. It's a challenge. I still don't reach as many people as I would like. I can give you a few names if you'd like. Stay in touch.
