Hi Charles. Yes, working on the followup to this book. I like to write full arcs so books feel complete.... and this one does. But there is so much potential for fun with these characters. That and currently reviewing through the audible version of book 1. How about you?
That’s great to hear, Eric! Sounds like you’ve got some real momentum going with the follow-up and the audible version, exciting stuff. How’s your marketing going so far? Any big wins or challenges you’ve been running into along the way?
All in all its going well. I am a patient guy and don't really carry an ego unless you get me on a foosball table. I have a party every time someones discovers and gushes over it. I think it is a solid book and I am pushing through some great contacts I have, but my "success" came when I finished it. When I turned out a book that I was not embarrassed for someone else to read. Would I love for it to be the next "Project Hail Mary"? Sure, but I am ok with people finding it and having the reader base I have already generated be the burn. I think regardless of me writing it, the audiobook production and story would be top five in my library. I think as my people embrace it, good things will continue and I really do not care the pace it happens. I write for me. Because I love it. I write the books I always wanted to hear. I'll take where that gets me.
I really love your perspective, Eric. It’s so refreshing to hear you talk about writing for the love of it and just enjoying the ride as readers discover your work. That’s exactly the kind of energy that keeps the craft fun. Would you mind if we connected via email? I’d love to pick your brain a bit more about your writing process and how you approach your stories.
Absolutely. Sorry for the long delay in responding. The book release and the 9-5 have been filling my days and nights. Also settling into writing the followup book. On the Foosball side, I won the North Carolina State Championship last weekend!
Also, I was approached for an AllAuthor interview and that should be posted soon. Mady Joshi asked some real insightful questions. It was a lot of fun.
