Donald Smalley Interview Published on: 27, May 2022

What is a childhood memory that makes you smile?

I had a miserable childhood. Deadbeat dad. Bullies galore. The Marx Brothers could make me smile.

Which of your childhood dreams was the first to die?

My first childhood dream to die is when my best friend had me blacklisted from broadcasting. What books do you remember reading during your childhood?

Compilation books from MAD. Who is the most supportive person in your life when it comes to your writing?

My daughter is the most supportive person. What challenges did you face while writing your book, Uncle Don's Modern Times?

While writing Modern Times, I developed pneumonia that doctors thought was a cancer spot. Which one do you prefer: writing a series or standalone novel? Why?

Writing a series is better. My books are about current events and have a serial, Jesus & Bigfoot. What is something no one tells you about writing a novel?

Writing should flow. If you are stuck, go work at Panera Bread. Your thoughts on conventional vs. self-publishing? What route did you choose and why?

Never in my life have I been given any respect from an agent. I have to be an indie. What inspired you to write the book, Uncle Don's New World Order?

New World Order was inspired by the 2020 election. Fraud was "baseless" with NO NEED TO CLARIFY. Do you read book reviews? How do you deal with good and bad ones?

Book reviews are too stressful. I had a stroke in 2024. I don't care for them, and I ignore them. Do you have a "reader" in mind while writing?

My readers should be conservative. Liberals would learn something if they weren't closed minded. When you're not writing or reading, what are some other things you like to do for fun?

I view documentaries on History, and discover the similarities with events today. What is the difference between the people read and the people who don't?

People that read are usually free from the brainwashing of television. Are you writing a novel? What's it about?

My current project is The Adventures of Jesus & Bigfoot. The new Odd Couple. When did you first come across the AllAuthor website and what were your expectations coming in? What are your thoughts now?

My thought on joining AllAuthor is that it would increase readers. The Twitter tools are nice, but no added readers.
