LISA BRADLEY Interview Published on: 07, Feb 2023

Which is your favorite childhood memory?

I remember one Christmas, my sister and I woke up to our gifts spread out neatly on the chair. Nothing was wrapped but laid out so beautifully for us to see. I loved it!

What are some elements to consider while writing a poem?

For me, the first thing is to be in a setting or environment conducive to writing. Eliminate all distractions to stay focused. My poems are inspirational, so I allow God to give me the words I need to write.

Which is your favorite poem from the collection, Be Encouraged?

My favorite is Bless Your People

What inspired you to write the book, God's World?

God's World came about because I wanted to do something for children that would inspire and encourage them as well because they are in need of that just as much as we adults do.

Who designs your book covers? Do you think that a book cover plays an important role in sales?

My publisher took care of the covers. I did however, had input into how I wanted them to look. The children's book cover was created by the illustrator. And yes, I think a book cover plays a very important role in sales because if the cover doesn't look interesting, customers are going to assume the book isn't interesting and pass on the option of buying.

What do you think the future holds for literature and their writers?

I think this is an area that will continue to grow. People have stories that need to be told and shared with the world. There are so many more writers and authors now than before and I think that's wonderful.

How much time does it usually take you to write one book?

Was there any book that was particularly easier or harder to write and why? Honestly, it wasn't hard to do a poetry book. My poems were written individually at different times so once I determined I wanted to do a book, I just put them all together and sent them to my publisher.

Are you more of an ice-cream or cake kind of person?

Not a lot of either but if I had to choose, maybe ice cream.

If book worlds were real, which would you want to visit more?

(a) Narnia
(b) Hogwarts
(c) The Pirates of the Caribbean world
(d) Game of Thrones world I would probably choose Narnia because of its beauty.

What is more important: scene or character description?

There are no characters or scenes in my poetry but with my poems, I try to relay a message or have the person reading envision what I'm trying to convey so I guess that would fall under scene.

Do you think it is important for an author to have other author friends? What other authors are you friends with?

Yes, it's important to have other author friends. You then have people who you can talk with that understands your writing and book journey. You have others that can relate. My author friends are all in my hometown.

Which is the next book you are working on? Is it another historical fiction?

I am currently not working on any books right now but we will see what the future holds.

Lastly, how do you promote your work on social media? Has AllAuthor been helpful in this regard and would you recommend it to other authors?

When I promote, I usually do it on Facebook and/or Instagram. Yes, ALLAuthor has been helpful and I would recommend to other authors.
