What were your childhood dreams? Did you ever dream of being a writer?I grew up loving books and stories. My goals were to either be a writer or an attorney. Now I'm an English teacher and a writer. :) So close, right?
Where did you meet your partner? Does he inspire any of your male characters?I'm married to a woman. So no, she does not inspire my male characters. We met in the Navy in 1996, but we did not become a couple until 2012. She did inspire the character Riley in This Too Shall Pass. Aspects of her were used to inspire Emma in Like Sapphire Blue.
Why did you choose to write in the Supernatural Suspense genre?Because it's my favorite to read. :)
At what age did you begin writing stories?I wrote a 156 page story when I was in 8th grade. I've spent my life telling stories. I've only just now gotten the confidence to publish.
Who inspired the character of cynical and sardonic Eva Brooks?Me. LOL it's the closest I will ever write to an autobiography.
What would you like to know about if you had the ability to see the future?I don't know if I want to know it.
What is the biggest challenge of writing supernatural suspense?Making sure it's still believable.
In what ways do you try to better understand the craft of writing?I read a lot within my genres.
Have your young kids read any of your books?I only have one. And no.
If you could choose any other genre than suspense, which one would it be?Horror.
What is one thing you will never write about in your books? Christianity?I don't know. I tackle a lot in my books.
What is the best advice you have ever received related to writing?to just write.
When will your next book be released? What is it about?My second was released today. My third is in progress.
