The Pioneer's Star: Alignment Archive (Astral Alignment Book 5) Kindle Edition
Earth has been destroyed, torn apart by the malignant powers of the astral plane. Still, mankind persists on worlds throughout the cosmos. Chief among them is Neuarden, where humans have advanced and surpassed the heights of their ancestors. Ruled by the theocratic greed of the Interfaith Ecclesiarchy, it is a utopian dream of vice and excess, where flesh can be molded into any shape one desires. Yet, this dream may soon become a nightmare. Alien creatures rally to retake their native home, and forgotten horrors stir in nameless ruins. A dark god seeks to bring the system to its knees, and an ancient secret lies waiting beneath Neuarden's pristine surface. There are no heroes in this corrupt corner of space, only a few desperate beings who will decide the fate of billions.
An alien lost in time, charged with reuniting his people and reclaiming their wondrous creations. A companion mechanoid, ill-prepared for the cosmic burden soon to fall upon her synthetic shoulders. A wealthy hacker, doomed to unleash death upon her home. A soldier, soon to be a peacemaker as a new enemy scours the system of life. A cargo-runner moving valuable secrets across the dark expanse of space, and finally a damned professor, who may reveal a secret so terrible that an entire system dies out.
Regardless of their actions, the humans and their precursors around the Pioneer's star are set to witness the beginning of a new age.
Author's Note: This is the fifth book in the Astral Alignment series but is largely a standalone. It has strong horror elements, some language and sexual content. It features a diverse cast of characters and is not written from a religious perspective.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2025Loved the cover—absolutely cool, great work. The story was rather dark, packed with machinery and robots—an absolutely great mix. Characters were believable and engaging. I only didn't like that the chapters don't have titles. Otherwise, highly recommend
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2025One thing I appreciated was how the book balances action with its world-building. There’s one scene with a soldier trying to broker peace amidst chaos, and another where an alien navigates some ancient ruins—those moments really stuck with me. But I will say the plot sometimes feels like it assumes you understand its background (maybe from earlier books?), which made me reread a couple of chapters. While I didn’t truly ""get"" some of the darker elements at first, the way it builds tension kept me invested.
If you’re into sci-fi that feels heavy on social commentary with some philosophical undertones, give this one a chance. Just be patient with the pace—it’s worth it if you stick with it. Also, fair warning, this probably isn’t for someone who wants a happy, neat conclusion...but hey, maybe it’s setting up something bigger.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2025A gripping, thought-provoking sci-fi epic that blends deep world building with high-stakes intrigue. The rich, immersive setting of Neuarden is fascinating and unsettling, packed with complex characters whose choices are going to shape the fate of the entire system. If you love dark, intelligent sci-fi with a touch of cosmic horror, this book is a must-read!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2025Randall Sharpe's book, The Pioneer's Star: Alignment Archive is a very humorous take on the far future. Extrapolation of current human behavior has bands of (sort of?) human mods (modified bodies) normal humans and a half dozen designations for human (?) sexuality. Add to that... mutants, emancipated robots and enslaved synthetic workers and... (what am I forgetting here?) Oh yes, actual aliens with exoskeleton bodies. The result is a madcap adventure that will make you smile as long as you try not to take it too seriously. This book is a real hoot. Good work Randall.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2023This book was not for me. I found it to be boring and really confusing. That could be fueled to the fact that I have not read the first four books. To me, it made no sense and I found it difficult to follow along.
