About the authors
I’ve always loved mysteries, especially those involving Agatha Christie's Miss Marple. Perhaps because Miss Marple reminds me of my aunts when I was growing up. But Agatha never told us much about Miss Marple's earlier life. While writing my own elderly super-sleuth series, I’m tracing her career from the start. As you’ll see, if you follow the Miss Riddell Cozy Mysteries series.
However, this is my Bio, not Miss Riddell’s, so here goes with all you need to know about me: After retiring, I became a writer and when I’m not feverishly typing on my laptop, you’ll find me running, cycling, walking, and taking wildlife photos wherever and whenever I can. My cozy mystery series begins in northern England because that was my home growing up and that’s also the home of so many great cozy mysteries. Stay with me though because Miss Riddell loves to travel as much as I do and the stories will take us to the many different places around the world I’ve lived in or visited.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2024The second delightful cozy in this Duchess of Snodsbury series, and a fun book to read! I really enjoy Lady Mary, her faithful butler Ponsonby and her trusty corgi Barkley! Her three debutants greet her as Lady Mary heads to a countryside estate for a week of summer events including a tennis tournament. When one of the guests dies unexpectedly, Lady Mary and her merry band of debutants are determined to solve the case! With a bunch of suspects and some twists and turns, this book will keep you entertained until the end! I plan to read book three next! I received a free copy of this book and write this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2023Lady Mary and her team of sleuths are just plain fun. In the vein of Miss Marple, Lady Mary is on shrewd lady, Her trio of sleuths provide laughs and teenage excitement to solve a series of events that lead to murder. The grandeur of the past comes to life in this cozy mystery. With her two faithful companions covering the downstairs otherwise known as the servants Lady Mary has all her bases covered! Barkley adds his two cents and provides the right answer even when his humans haven't realized it, or has Lady Mary know all along. I enjoyed this one so much I am going to read the first one of the series.

The story has enough twists to keep the reader guessing right up to the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2024Really enjoyable mystery in a British country "old world" setting. Lots of suspects and possibilities. Was he killed because of crooked business dealings, love affairs, or art looting, or something not even considered?
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2023I opened this book looking forward to an entertaining read but instead I found a major plot hole that soured the story.
Would a man be wide awake and playing an energetic and hotly contested tennis match if he'd been given a 'heavy sedative' three hours previously? No prizes for the obvious answer.
I'm left feeling disrespected by the author(s), led to believe they feel such an offering is good enough for the undiscerning mind of the reader.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2023Lady Mary, Duchess of Snodsbury, her cook, her butler, and her exuberant corgi travel to a country estate to attend a summer party hosted by old friends. Her three young assistants are there to meet her when she arrives at the train station. The event takes a sinister turn when one of the guests dies unexpectedly. Mary and her three debutants are determined to solve the case and expose the killer. Everyone at the estate is a suspect and the list continues to grow as their investigation digs deeper.
This is the first book I have read in this series. I enjoyed the way Mary organized the investigation in a very British cozy fashion. Barkley was a perfect companion with good sleuthing skills. There were twists and turns that kept the story interesting. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2023And not just the authors, also between Lady Mary, Margie, Winnie, and Dotty. Many clues. Many suspects. Did not feel particularly sorry for the victim, I'll have to say.
Definitely enjoyed reading this. And was not at all sure about whodunit.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This is the second book in the series of P C James and his co-author. I'm so sorry to say, the co-author leaves something to be desired. His Miss Riddel Series was much more interesting, entertaining and full of little pieces of life's wisdom. That, to me, is P C James. These new books are just kind of cute, but lack sophistication. It is not the P C James I have gotten to know. I will not buy the third one in this series or any other with co-author Mykel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murder, infidelity, and intrigue in rural 1950's England
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful second book in the Duchess of Snodsbury cozy mystery series. This time she, her cute corgi Barkley, and her sleuthing associates set out to solve a poisoning.
There's a complication. The suspicious death occurs during a tennis weekend at an old friend's house in the country. Could Lady Mary's friends be involved?
It was fun reading about the dead ends and ups and downs of the investigation. Lady Mary, her adorable dog, faithful butler Ponsonby, and Cook make for a determined team! Once again, a trio of young women comes to their aid to help catch the killer. I'm sure fans of cozy mystery will love this latest well-written book.
