Erin trejo Interview On 25, Feb 2018

"Though not much of reader or writer when she was younger. Erin Trejo started weaving beautiful stories at 34 and hasn’t stopped since. As a person that experiences chronic depression, writing is a hobby and an outlet that lets out some of Erin’s frustrations. After reading her books, Erin hopes her readers “feel” something - whether they're crying tears of joy or empathy. Erin had a mindblowing time collaborating with other authors for “Iron Claw MC Part 2” and is in the process of writing season 2 as well. Her first story was a short rock star romance and her first reader was a woman called Thia Preyer who still reads her books to this day."
Tell us a little bit about your early life and family. At what age did you decide that you wanted to be a writer?

I wasn’t much of a reader or writer when I was younger. I actually decided to sit down and get all my thoughts out, which turned into stories when I was 34. Insane right?

What was the plot of the first story you ever wrote? Who was your first reader and how old were you?

34. Gosh, that makes me feel old. LOL My first story was a short rock star romance. My very first reader was a woman named Thia Preyer. She still, to this day is one of my readers. She’s amazing!

How does your writing process differ when you're writing crime fiction as opposed to a dark romance or erotica?

It really isn’t much different. I suffer from chronic depression and writing lets me get out some of that frustration that I feel when it really hits. That’s when most of my darker books get written.

After reading your books, what is something you want your readers to takeaway? Do you think you have achieved this?

I want them to “feel” something. Whether that is a good cry, or anger, or generally happy, I want them to feel something and I truly believe that I have achieved that.

Tell us a little about your book "Shadowlands" and how you came about the idea for it. What are some of the main themes you explore in this book?

Old Folk tales. I love old fold tales, who doesn’t? In Shadowlands, a new to town girl is warned about the old tale but she doesn’t believe it until it comes try for her. She is thrust into their world and she has to figure out who she truly is.

What was your favourite part about writing the "Knights Of Sin MC" series?

In "Never Letting Go", who are some people you used as inspiration for your characters? Knights of Sin Mc series was interesting to write. It deals with a lot of real life situations that many deal with on a daily basis like, PTSD and depression.

What was your experience like collaborating and writing with other authors for the book "Iron Claw MC Part 2"? What were your favourite parts of this series?

It was an amazing experience! Being able to work with them was just mindblowing. I loved it so much, I am writing in season 2 as well!

What are some ways that collaborating with other authors might help you, as an author, to grow and improve your writing?

We can play off each other. We can bounce ideas and words off each other. It’s really helpful to be able to have that connection to others.

Where did you get the idea for the book "A Love Like War"? What kind of research did you have to do in order to write this book? Did you interview anyone, and if so, did you meet anyone really interesting?

I was listening to music and thought, huh, why not have a drug dealer from a trailer park!

If "A Love Like War" were to be made into a movie, who would play Nash Lamont Kingston? What about Sadie?

Oh my gosh! I don’t even know!! Nash I could picture as Charlie Hunnam.

Of all the books you've written, which one do you feel most connected to?

Or, which book is the most personal? I couldn’t pick one. I feel a certain connection to all of them. They are all a part of my heart and who I am.

What is something memorable that you've heard or received from one of your fans/readers?

The most memorable thing that I’ve heard would be a woman that told me how much I touched her with my books. She was having chemo and she read when she couldn’t do much else. That really sticks with me.

What does reading/writing mean to you? If you weren't an author, what would you be doing?

Writing is the world to me. If I wasn’t an author, I would just be a typical stay at home mom.
