What is a childhood memory that makes you smile?
When I was 5 years old, my parents got us a puppy, and I named him Scotty. He was a Scottish Terrier, and I was 5, so it made perfect sense!
Who was the first person you shared your first ever story with?
I have always loved to write. When I was in the 4th grade, I wrote a poem about my teacher, Mrs. Chaisson, and shared it with her. I rhymed "Nice" and "Rice." Thankfully, my writing has improved, since then.
What qualities make for a great children's book?
A great children's book needs three things: a fun theme, an engaging story, and colorful illustrations.
What is the most profound thing you've ever read in a children's book?
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. We need to make the changes, we want to see.
Who inspired the character of Ruby the Rainbow Witch?
Ruby the Rainbow Witch was actually inspired by two people. My friend's daughter who would wear her Halloween costume all year, inspired the character, but Ruby actually resembles my daughter.
Which book took the longest to write in the Go on Vacation series?
Where Do Mermaids Go on Vacation actually took the longest to write, because if you think about it, there aren't as many places they can actually go!
How did you begin writing the 'Ruby the Rainbow Witch' book series?
Ruby the Rainbow Witch: A Picture-Perfect Rainbow Day was the first book I ever published. I was really excited to write about Ruby and her adventures.
Which is the most memorable award winning moment of your life?
My most memorable award winning moment was when my Ruby the Rainbow Witch book series won a Mom's Choice Gold Seal of Excellence.
What are the best beaches in Southern California?
The best beaches in Southern California have to be in Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and Malibu.
If you could win just one award in your entire lifetime, what would you choose and why?
If I could ever turn one of my book series into a screenplay, I wouldn't mind winning an Academy Award.
What is one moment in your life you thought could only happen in a movie?
I think being able to call myself a published author is something that sounds too good to be true. Something that only happens in the movies.

I am excited to tell you about my two latest projects. A fun, interactive counting book based on the adorable little sandpipers down on the beach, Ten Little Sandpipers, and a ninja book based on the positive side of martial arts called, Ninja School Rules. How long have you been associated with AllAuthor? How has your experience been?
I have been a part of AllAuthor for about a year now and it has been all positive. My favorite parts would be the social media shoutouts, especially on Twitter, and access to unlimited book mock-ups. I use these features all the time for my own social media posts.
