BIOGRAPHY

I have always loved reading and storytelling, whether captivating an audience or weaving tales for my sons. Eventually, this passion led me to embark on a journey I had long envisioned: writing a novel. The topic had been simmering in my mind for years—the consequences of AI’s triumph and its profound impact on humanity.

How would the rise of AI and a fully digital world reshape us as individuals? Would it alter our humanity? And what if a sudden catastrophe wiped out all digital tools in one devastating moment? What would remain of us as human beings if we were thrust back into a “digital Stone Age”, left to rely solely on ourselves?

These questions drove the creation of my science fiction novel, THE SUPERFLARE. It’s a story born from my fascination with the intersection of technology, human nature, and the fragility of the digital age.

A bit about me: I have a background in German Literature, Political Science, and History. Today, I live and work in Berlin, where I share my life with my wife and our two children.

      • Of course. Every element of the story stems from my thoughts, ideas, and imagination, which are deeply rooted in my experiences, personality, and worldview. The books I’ve read, my hopes and fears, my values, and the society I live in all shape the stories I tell. Nobody creates in a vacuum.

      • You might know the metaphorical phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover." While that might be wise, many readers choose books based on their covers. Good book covers are eye-catchers and bring the book's essence to the point in one picture. That's why I worked with a professional on my book covers. The same applies to the title. It should arouse curiosity and indicate in a few words what the book will be about.

      • Our reliance on digital devices and artificial intelligence (AI) continues to grow at an astonishing rate, both as individuals and as a society. AI is no longer confined to niche applications—it permeates every aspect of our daily lives.
AI’s presence extends beyond the digital realm, infiltrating the physical world in remarkable ways. Autonomous vehicles are now a reality, with self-driving cars, trucks, and buses taking to the roads. Cutting-edge technology is even making inroads into the human body. This progress raises profound questions about whether researchers aim to outpace evolution itself with their creations.
Yet, as AI advances, the social fabric appears to fray. Smartphones dominate our attention, and many people struggle with loneliness—even young generations are not immune. The COVID-19 pandemic has only accelerated these trends, intensifying our dependence on technology and weakening human connection.
When I began writing THE SUPERFLARE several years ago, these thoughts loomed large in my mind. I wanted to explore a scenario where humanity is stripped of its technological crutches, forcing us to rely solely on our physical and mental capabilities. Through the character of Tron, an advanced superintelligence, I delved into how an AI—designed to surpass human intelligence—might behave when its very existence is threatened.
