BIOGRAPHY

"What a long, strange trip it's been" - Grateful Dead

My life, thus far, has been beyond blessed. I've finally written the book - one of many - that has been floating around my mind for quite some time. It's not for everyone. It's for people who don't take life too seriously. The smart-alecks amongst us. If you're looking for Wuthering Heights, keep on moving.

While writing "The Boys Are Back in Town," I've continued owning and operating Michigan Sports Academy-Livingston, a baseball/softball training facility in my hometown, as well as spending the summers as the Field Director for the Detroit Tigers Youth Summer Camps.

Previously, I coached small college baseball for 17 years, spending many years as a Sports Information Director as well. I have coached since 1992, and in addition to my time at the collegiate level, I coach at the varsity high school level for an decade.

I was a small-town newspaper reporter and editor - winning Newspaper of the Year for Class C weeklies in 2002 from the Michigan Press Association - after spending much of the 1990s working in politics.

My sons seem particularly interested in the handful of years I was a mobile disc jockey.

I've been married to my fabulous and beautiful wife, Debra, since 1997 and have three aforementioned sons.

Thanks for reading this!

      • That pretty describes much of my first book. People, situations, conversations - a lot of what was written derived from real life experiences.

      • I have, and will, read each and every review. All feedback is good feedback. Obviously, no one wants to hear bad news, but constructive criticism can help shape you as a writer. Fortunately, I have been blessed to have a fabulous wife and three sons that serve as my editorial board during my writing process. And trust me, they have no problem telling me they don't like something.

      • Keep moving forward. I pretty much hate everything I write. I always feel it's not good enough. There's such a rush, however, when the product is finished and people will come up to you and say that they love or hate a certain character, or they want to know the fate of a character that may not be the protagonist, or they love/hate the ending. You touched another person's life. And your characters, the ones that were in your head for years, are alive and people care about them. That's incredible.

      • It's humbling. Other people are choosing to spend hours with your creation. Time is the only thing that you can never get back, and people have chosen to give you their time. If they are willing to give you that most cherished commodity, even if they have criticisms, that is something of true value. I always am so thankful that they gave me their time.
