Kerry Adrienne Interview On 14, Aug 2018

"Born in the mountains of North Carolina--a beautiful area of the United States, author Kerry Adrienne always had lots of pets, and spent time camping and enjoying the mountains. Animal lover, Kerry Adrienne wanted to be a hermit who lived in a cave and got to read all the time. Author, costumer, artist, mom, animal lover, and believer in human rights, Kerry is married and has three daughters. She loves developing a three dimensional costume from an animation or drawing and figuring out how to bring what's on the page to life. Romance is what she writes because according to her, love/companionship is one of the things that transcends all genres. Kerry has recently finished writing Snowed Undercover, a paranormal romantic suspense with dragons with her co-writer Lia Davis. It will release in late August, 2018. Writing is just a part of who she is and she can't imagine it being any different."
Where were you brought up? How would you describe your upbringing?

I was born in the mountains of North Carolina--a beautiful area of the United States. I have a sister and a brother, and my mom raised us all. We always had lots of pets, and spent time camping and enjoying the mountains.

Who all are a part of your family? How do they inspire you to write?

I'm married and have three daughters. Two of my girls are in college and the third is homeschooled.

As a child, what did you want to become when you grow up?

I wanted to be a hermit who lived in a cave and got to read all the time.

At what age did you decide to become a writer? Why?

Like many writers, there was no time of "deciding" to write--it's just a part of who I am and I can't imagine it being any different.

You are an animal lover. Did you have any pets while growing up? Do you have pets now?

So many pets! I love animals and often prefer their company to the hubbub of life around me. Over the years, my family has had everything from bunnies to horses, goats, pigs, dogs, cats, hamsters, chameleons, mice, fish, and others. Currently, we have five cats living at our home, and my college girls took four more cats with them to college. I can't imagine a life without animals in it.

You are a firm believer in human rights. Was there a specific incident that drew your attention towards it?

Not really. I've always been pained to see the plight of the disenfranchised, and it's surprising to me when some other people don't feel the same.

Which was your first book to get published? How did you feel when it was launched?

My first book was a historical romance called Senator, Mine--set in Ancient Rome. It was a good day when it launched.

What are the other things apart from writing that you are passionate about?

So many things. Drawing, painting, sewing, astronomy, physics, history, reading, swords, cats, tigers.... You get the picture.

What is your favorite part of your job as a costumer?

I love developing a three dimensional costume from an animation or drawing and figuring out how to bring what's on the page to life.

Out of the many books that you have written, which was the most challenging to write? Why?

Probably Taming the Lion. My family suffered a lot of losses in a short period of time, and it was difficult to focus on writing.

Romance is your most preferred genre to write. Do you plan to explore any other genres?

Romance is what I write because love/companionship is one of the things that transcends all genres. I do also love to write science fiction--though there's often a relationship arc in those stories as well.

All your male characters, be it Derek from ‘Pursuing the Beer’, or Marco from ‘Taming the Lion’ are very strong and heroic. What inspires you to write such characters?

I think we all like to read about characters we'd like to be, and who wouldn't like to be heroic?

If you could be one female character from one of your books, who would you choose? Why?

Mari, from Storm Damaged. She's a mermaid--that seems like the perfect life. Ocean, sunshine, and living by the beach/in the water.

What is the title of the next book you are working on? When can the readers expect to read it?

Co-writer Lia Davis and I recently finished writing Snowed Undercover, a paranormal romantic suspense with dragons. It will release
