I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I am best known for my love of animals and I share my home with two humorous Basset Hounds, Rose and Cooper, my toughest critics. Throughout school, I focused on Fine Arts, but a creative writing class sparked my desire to tell stories.

"Author of the IMMORTAL KISS series, THE VOW, and THE SOUL COLLECTOR, Laura Daleo loves all things vampire. She has always loved drawing and painting since elementary school. She has been a hostess, bookkeeper, accountant, manager, and animal advocate. She wrote her first story, Immortal Kiss in 1996. Her novels are refreshing and interesting and are always a pleasure to read."

Where have you spent most of your childhood?

Born and raised in San Diego, California.

When did you write your first story?

I wrote Immortal Kiss in 1996 after reading Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles.

What developed your interest in Fine Arts?

I’ve always been creative, loving to draw and paint since elementary school.

As a teenager, what were you obsessed with?

Pets. I loved all kinds of pets. Still do.

Which of your novels would you recommend to someone who has never read your books?

The Vow. It’s a standalone vampire murder mystery.

How important are name to you when writing a book? How do you go about choosing names for your characters?

The title is especially important. It has to grab the reader’s attention. After I creative my characters, I find names that I think fits their personalities.

What impact did writing the book, The Soul Collector have on you?

The Soul Collector was a fun book to write, and my first non-vampire book.

Who inspired the character of twenty-year-old Claire Matthews in "The Vow"?

My imagination was what inspired me to create Claire. I’d been thinking about writing a book for her for a while.

What would you do if you are free to do anything for a day?

I love to exercise, spend time with my 4 basset hounds, watch movies, listen to music, and read.

What are some strategies to help you understand someone who thinks differently from you?

Everyone is unique. I always keep an open mind and let people be themselves.

Do you have a secret to success?

I’ve been a development partner for designing software for accounts payable processes.

Are you a cat person or a dog person?

Definitely a dog person.

What do you think is the best way forward in making fine art more exciting and accessible to the general public?

Art is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone’s taste is different.

How many plot ideas are just waiting to be written? Can you tell us about one?

I have several. My current project is The Doll, a sci-fi novel. Jeremy is grieving over the sudden death of his fiancée, until he meets the Doll Maker.

How has your experience of being associated with AllAuthor been?

It has been great. I’m getting a lot of exposure for my books and the author tools are very professional. So happy I went Pro membership.
