Raz Mihal Interview On 17, Feb 2025

"Raz Mihal is the author of Just Love Her, a profound exploration of divine love and spiritual awakening. As a modern hermit, Raz has cultivated a deep connection with the world while choosing to live beyond its conventional boundaries. Through writing, Raz invites readers to embrace love not just as an emotion, but as a transcendent force that unites souls and fosters enlightenment."
What inspired you to adopt the lifestyle of a modern hermit, and how has it shaped your perspective on love and connection?

I wouldn’t call it hermitism, but rather a deep appreciation for solitude. Stillness allows me to connect with the essence of love beyond words or societal expectations. Observing people and society from a distance reveals that love is not just an emotion—it is the underlying connection and source of everything within us and existence itself. This is where the idea of the modern hermit arises—not in isolation, but in being among people while remaining an outsider due to the clarity and awareness that love is divinity itself. It’s about stepping back, not to withdraw, but to truly see—to recognise love in its purest form. In that silence, I’ve realised that love is not something to chase, but something ever-present, waiting to be remembered—like waking from a long dream into the true reality of our existence. That’s why the movie The Matrix resonates so deeply with me—it reflects this awakening, revealing love as the ultimate reality beyond illusion.

How did your journey into exploring divine love begin, and what pivotal moments influenced your understanding of it?

My journey began as an inner calling, a whisper of love at an early age that never faded. The pivotal moment came decades ago during meditation in the woods when I realised that love is not just an emotion—it is the eternal force behind all existence. In solitude, reflection, and even the simplest moments of connection, I uncovered deeper layers of this divine essence. Love is not something to seek; it is something to remember—always present within our souls.

What does “divine love” mean to you, and how does it differ from conventional definitions of love?

Divine love is not transactional or reliant on external validation—it simply is, an eternal energy within all that exists and beyond existence itself. It transcends possession and expectation, flowing beyond time and space. While human love often seeks reciprocation, divine love is a state of being—an awareness that love is the very fabric of existence. It is not bound by time, reason, or physical presence; it has always been, always will be, and simply is. That is why I reversed the old scriptural saying God is love, realising instead that Love is God.

How do you balance living beyond societal boundaries with staying connected to the world you write for?

The balance comes naturally now because writing has become my bridge between solitude and society—not out of intention, but because the feeling of divine love is so overwhelming that it must be shared, allowing the world to recognise and embrace its divinity. In the past, I struggled to accept society as it is, with its flaws and suffering, seeking refuge in monasteries and forests, trying to live as a true hermit. But through meditation and revelations, I came to realise that divine love—God—is not separate from the world, society, or people, but is the very essence of everything. With this understanding, I no longer searched or withdrew but embraced the world as a reflection of the divine love within. While I still spend much time in reflection, my words exist to be shared, to reach those seeking a deeper understanding of love. Love itself is the balance—remaining open to the world while honouring the quiet space where true awareness deepens.

What was the most challenging aspect of writing Just Love Her, and how did you overcome it?

The challenge was translating the inexpressible into words—how do you describe something meant to be felt beyond language? That’s why I’ve always felt that words alone are never enough to convey divine love or the reality of its existence. Yet, if not through words, how else can one at least offer a glimpse of its greatness and help others realise that love is not just a feeling but a force beyond comprehension—much like the unseen power behind Marvel’s characters? I overcame this by not trying to define love intellectually but by allowing the feeling itself to give birth to the words, letting them emerge naturally, without force, trusting that the essence of divine love would find its way through the spaces between the lines.

Your work emphasizes love as a path to transcendence and unity. Can you share practical ways readers can begin this journey?

Start by quieting the noise of thoughts and simply being aware of the feeling of love when you're with a loved one, regardless of the relationship. Love isn’t something to be grasped; it’s something to be felt when the mind stops searching. Meditation, deep reflection, and genuine moments of connection—whether with nature, others, or oneself—are all pathways to recognising the love that has always been there.

But beyond all this, the realisation must come that love is more than just a feeling; it is something resembling divinity itself, beyond what we perceive as human love. We often treat love as something simple, like food, water, or a necessity of life, because it is inherent within us. Yet, it is far greater than that—it is the very essence of these things, the source of existence, and even the foundation of the idea of divinity itself.

How has your personal experience of divine love influenced your relationships and interactions with others?

It has shifted my understanding of love from expectation to presence. Love is not about possessing another or seeking validation; it’s about being fully present in every interaction, allowing love to exist without control. This perspective has deepened my connections, making them more authentic and free.

This doesn’t mean I don’t make mistakes or that I live as a saint in society or in relationships. But in being present, I often realise how fragile we are as humans, how we tend to treat love as a transaction—even in its most noble forms. Many times, love is expressed when we praise ourselves for doing good, helping others in suffering or need, as if love must be justified or rewarded. Yet, real love is silent, not seeking recognition but simply being—lived, shared, and felt without the need to make noise about it.

Are there any spiritual teachings or philosophies that have heavily influenced your work?

In the beginning, decades ago, when I searched for answers to the emptiness inside, love gradually filled that space. I read extensively—from the Bible to Buddhism, the Vedas, the lives and teachings of great gurus and masters, as well as hypnotism and Blavatsky—exploring anything that sought to explain the source and purpose of our existence. Even science fiction fascinated me, as many of its ideas mirror religious and philosophical concepts, offering alternative perspectives on the mysteries of existence.

After years of meditation, solitude, and deep reflection, I realised that the answer wasn’t in following a single philosophy. Instead, I found that divine love weaves through all knowledge, subtly connecting science, religion, and existence in unseen ways. My understanding of divine love has been shaped by direct experience rather than doctrine. However, elements of Eastern spirituality, Sufi poetry, and even quantum physics deeply resonate with my perspective on love as a force beyond time and space.

What role does solitude play in your writing process and spiritual practice?

Solitude is where clarity emerges, and awareness takes full presence. In those silent moments, I can hear the deeper truths of love and existence, unfiltered by societal distractions. It is when the inner sound of existence arises, confirming the presence of the soul. Writing, for me, is an extension of this process—giving form to these revelations so they can be shared.

In Just Love Her, do you incorporate personal stories, allegories, or metaphors to convey your message?

Yes, the book is infused with reflections that merge personal experience with universal truths. Some moments are directly drawn from my own journey, while others are expressed through allegory, allowing readers to see themselves within the unfolding exploration of love. What I’ve noticed is that when I read my own words later, it feels as if I am speaking not just for myself, but for an unseen audience—as if an inner force has been encapsulated within those words, reaching out to others who are called to recognize the same living energy of divine love that already exists within them.

What advice would you give to readers who struggle to connect with the concept of love beyond physical or emotional dimensions?

Don’t force understanding, don’t think about it—just feel. Love is not something the mind can fully grasp; it’s something the heart already knows. It is the reflection of divine love on a universal scale. We must acknowledge that love is not just a simple emotion but a force that binds and connects everything—it is the source of all that is. The more you try to define it, the further it seems. Instead, be still, observe, and become aware of your inner feelings. Allow love to reveal itself in the smallest moments of awareness. And in those moments, as you become conscious of love’s existence, you begin to realise the ultimate truth—that love was always within you. You simply hadn’t recognised it from the beginning, which is what makes its existence truly divine.

How do you envision a world connected by enlightened souls, and what steps can society take to move toward that vision?

A world connected by divine love awareness is one where people see beyond ego, beyond division, beyond physical existence. It begins with individual awakening—realising that love is not something to seek externally but an inherent state of being. When enough individuals embrace this truth, the collective consciousness naturally shifts. At that point, divine love is no longer just a concept of religion or philosophy—it becomes our very existence.

What do you hope readers will take away from Just Love Her and apply in their own lives?

I hope they walk away with the realisation that love is not something to seek but something to be. Love is not confined to relationships, moments, or emotions—it is the foundation of existence itself. And once recognised, it changes everything.

I also hope readers will enrich their lives and those of their loved ones by seeing love as more than a feeling or expectation—by loving simply because it brings them joy, not for a reason or accomplishment. And finally, that they will come to understand and accept that divine love is the answer humanity has searched for since the beginning of time—not because someone told them or because they read it, but because they feel it within, awakened through their own enlightenment.

What’s next for you as an author and spiritual seeker—are there new projects or explorations on the horizon?

I’m currently revisiting Hearts of Love, a book I wrote 25 years ago in my native language, bringing it into a new light with the understanding I have now. This time, I aim to make it more readable than Just Love Her, which, at times, is quite abstract and explores concepts that may be challenging for those unfamiliar with the spirituality genre. Interestingly, Hearts of Love was even more abstract in its original form, yet it was more easily accepted by readers at the time of its publication. Perhaps because it not only explored divine love but also provided a practical path to enlightenment—one that has been, and still is, the foundation of my existence in society.

Beyond that, my journey continues—writing, exploring, and sharing the ever-unfolding nature of divine love in another book titled Divine Love. Much of it was written in my native language a few years after Hearts of Love was published, and it will likely be the last book where I directly explore divine love as both a divinity and a concept. While each book is connected by this theme, they stand on their own, offering unique discussions and perspectives. This is why I never considered them a series—divine love is their common thread, but the experience of reading each is distinct.

Additionally, I’m excited to venture into science fiction, or at least blend it with philosophical fiction. I already have concepts and ideas for a few books, but writing them is an entirely different process—one that unfolds in its own time. Hopefully, sooner rather than later. Only divine love knows… ?

      • The dream I wish to achieve before I leave this world is to fully embody and share the message of divine love. I want to awaken within myself and others the realization that love is not just an emotion or a fleeting connection, but an eternal force that transcends time, space, and even death. My journey is to inspire others to see love as a divine essence within us all, guiding our lives and shaping our souls. If, by the time I take my last breath, I have touched even a few souls with this message, helping them discover the infinite power of love within themselves, I will feel my purpose has been fulfilled. Life without this deep connection to divine love is empty; my goal is to ensure that people understand how transformative and essential it truly is.

      • The rise of Kindle and e-books represents a shift in how we connect with knowledge, stories, and even each other. In a sense, these digital forms of books have dissolved the physical boundaries of reading, much like how love transcends time and space. With a single device, we can access countless worlds, ideas, and emotions, instantly bridging the gap between authors and readers across the globe. It’s a reflection of the interconnectedness of our modern existence—a web of information and emotion that’s always at our fingertips.

But while this transformation has made literature more accessible, I believe it’s also important to remember the soul of the written word. Whether we’re reading on paper or a screen, the essence of what we’re absorbing—the love, wisdom, and experiences shared—remains the same. E-books and digital platforms offer us new tools to expand our consciousness, but the act of reading, of connecting deeply with a story or an idea, remains timeless.

In the future, this digital evolution could enhance how we experience stories, but at its core, reading will always be about connection—much like the love I speak of in Just Love Her, it’s not the form that matters, but the connection between souls through words.

      • If I were to shift genres, I would gravitate toward a blend of science fiction and philosophical fiction. Science fiction, at its core, allows us to explore the vast unknowns of existence—parallel universes, time travel, artificial intelligence—but through the lens of human experience and consciousness. I would love to weave stories that not only explore futuristic worlds and technologies but also dive deep into the existential questions we face as beings connected by love, time, and the mysteries of the universe.

In this genre, I could still ask the profound questions that guide my writing: What is the nature of love in a world beyond time? How does the soul evolve in a reality where consciousness can be digitized? What role does divine love play in a universe driven by science and technology? These are the kinds of stories that would allow me to blend my passion for philosophical thought with the endless possibilities that science fiction offers. It would be a journey not just through space and time, but through the depths of the soul.

      • If I were to rewrite any of my books, it would be Just Love Her, not because I believe it is incomplete, but because love itself is an evolving force, and as I grow, my understanding of divine love deepens. Every new experience, every meditation, and every moment of reflection brings me closer to a more profound connection with the essence of love. I would want to rewrite it to capture the new dimensions of love that I have come to understand since its original creation.

Perhaps there are feelings and insights that I could express more clearly now, or experiences I’ve had since then that would enrich the narrative. Love, like life, is not static—it’s a flowing, living energy that continues to teach me. In this way, Just Love Her could always evolve, just as we do. A rewritten version would reflect not only where I was when I first wrote it but where I am now, offering readers an even deeper exploration of the divine essence that connects us all.

      • Over the years, my writing style has evolved significantly. In my earlier works, such as Hearts of Love, I explored themes of divine love and existential questions in a more abstract, philosophical way. My focus was on the broader metaphysical aspects of love and existence, often presenting these ideas in a more formal, intellectual tone.

However, as I’ve grown, my writing has shifted toward a more intimate and personal approach. In Just Love Her, for instance, I still explore the same deep, spiritual themes, but now I do so through reflective meditations and personal experiences. The concepts of divine love and soul connections are still central, but my style has become more direct, more emotionally engaged, and, I believe, more relatable to readers.

I’ve learned to weave these profound ideas into a narrative that invites readers to reflect on their own lives, to feel the essence of love and connection, rather than simply think about them. This evolution has allowed me to bring my readers closer to the heart of the message—showing, rather than telling, the transformative power of love.

      • One thing readers might not realize about the genre of spiritual fiction or metaphysical fiction is that it often serves as both a narrative and a personal guide for self-reflection. While it tells a story, the genre is deeply rooted in encouraging readers to explore their own spiritual paths and inner worlds. It’s not just about the characters or the plot; it’s about offering readers tools for their own journeys of self-discovery and personal growth.

In books like Just Love Her, the layers of spiritual wisdom and existential musings are woven into the fabric of the story, inviting readers to engage not just with the words but with their own soul and consciousness. This genre isn't just entertainment; it's a reflection, a mirror through which readers can connect with deeper truths about love, life, and the universe. Many readers might be surprised to find how much these stories resonate with their own lives, offering a path to insight and enlightenment.

      • No, I didn’t see writing as a career or full-time profession when I was younger. It wasn’t something I imagined doing as a profession, but rather, writing has always been a personal outlet—a way to explore my thoughts, emotions, and the deeper aspects of life. It was more of a spiritual journey for me than a career goal. Over time, as my love for expressing the complexities of the soul through words grew, writing became an essential part of my life, but never something I originally pursued as a profession. It just evolved naturally into what it is today, where sharing these insights with others became not just fulfilling, but a calling.
